Frequently asked questions

How do I start the prompter?
Open a script and tap “Start Prompter”. Tap the text to start or pause it, swipe left or right to jump between paragraphs, and double-tap to return to the beginning.
How do I control Lenscript with a keyboard or foot pedal?
The space bar and arrow keys work right away. Bluetooth foot pedals that connect like a keyboard can be assigned under Settings → “Keyboard & Pedals”. You can also test there which key your pedal sends.
How do I use Lenscript with a teleprompter mirror?
In the prompter, tap “Mirroring” and choose “Mirror Horizontally”, and “Mirror Vertically” if needed. With an external display, set its mirroring separately in the “External Display” menu.
How do I record myself with the text?
Tap “Record Video” in a script. The first time, the app asks for access to the camera and microphone. The text runs as a band along the camera edge, so your eyes stay close to the lens. Your recordings are listed under “Recordings” and in the Files app under Lenscript, where you can save them to Photos or share them.
The text isn’t next to my iPad’s camera.
In the recorder, choose the right edge under “Text Position”. Feel free to tell me which device you use so I can improve the automatic detection.
How do I show the text on an external display?
Connect the display via USB-C or HDMI, or use AirPlay. The display shows only the text, while the iPad shows the same lines with all controls. With Stage Manager, open a separate window from the prompter via “External Display” → “Open Output Window” and drag it to the display.
Which files can I import?
Plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md), RTF and Word (.docx). Use “Import Files…”, drag files into the list, open them from the Files app, paste text from the clipboard, or share it to Lenscript from another app.
I denied access to the camera or microphone.
Open the Settings app, choose Lenscript and allow the camera and microphone there. Then you can record again.
Where are my scripts stored?
Only on your device. Lenscript has no account and no server. Backups are made with your iCloud or computer backup. Deleted scripts stay in “Recently Deleted” for 30 days before they are removed for good.
How much does Lenscript cost?
Nothing. Lenscript is free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscription.
